About Erin

I’m Erin Farris-Olsen, and I’m running for State Senate because I believe in the power of community and the responsibility of government to make people’s lives better.

With over twenty years of experience in public service, law, and nonprofit leadership, I’ve helped turn big ideas into action. That includes work in the courtroom, at the Capitol, and in community-led efforts across Montana. Today, I lead a consulting business that supports organizations and local leaders in building capacity, securing resources, and turning vision into reality. I bring a well-rounded perspective, a deep love for this place, and a commitment to showing up and doing the work.

A Career Rooted in Public Service

From managing a statewide legal service program at the Montana Supreme Court to leading one of the state's largest watershed networks to helping rural communities cut through red tape and access the support they need, my work has always been about removing barriers, building trusted relationships, and helping people solve real problems.

I’ve worked in state government, environmental law, national nonprofits, and now as the founder of my own consulting business. I understand how policy gets made, how public resources are used, and how to get results that reflect the needs of everyday Montanans.

Leadership You Can Trust

I’ve led diverse teams, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and helped design and grow programs that make a lasting difference. I’ve advised Tribal governments, collaborated with farmers and conservationists, and built coalitions that put values into action.

I’ve worked closely with federal and state agencies, rural communities, and small business owners to move projects from concept to completion. Whether navigating government systems or bringing people together across sectors, I know how to get things done without losing sight of the people it’s supposed to help.

In every role I’ve held, I’ve focused on listening first, making space for new voices, and building consensus without compromising core values.

A Voice for Our Community

I live in Helena with my family, surrounded by neighbors who care deeply about our schools, our land, and our future. This district includes working parents, retirees, small business owners, and young people trying to build their lives here. I understand the pressures people are feeling and I also see the strength and creativity our community brings to every challenge.

The Montana Legislature should reflect that same strength and creativity. Because the Capitol is right here in our backyard, we have a real opportunity to connect community voices with state policy. That’s the kind of representation I will bring to the Senate.

Personal Roots

I live in Helena with my husband Rob and our two young sons, Tupper (9) and Auggie (6). My children and I are proud members of the Brothertown Indian Nation, a state-recognized tribe based in Wisconsin.

I was raised by a working-class parents in Boring, Oregon, a small timber town turned commuter community. Helena feels like home because it chose me, and I’m committed to keeping it a place where everyone can thrive.

When I’m not working or volunteering, you’ll find me hiking, fishing, or camping with my family and friends.

Ready to Work for You

This campaign is about protecting what matters: freedom, opportunity, and a Montana that stays affordable for the people who live here. I believe in government that listens and leads with heart. I’m ready to serve and I would be honored to earn your support.
