What does the Clerk of the Supreme Court do?

The Clerk of the Montana Supreme Court is an administrative position that oversees the organization of Supreme Court filings and administers Montana Attorney admissions and compliance. The direct scope of authority for the Clerk of the Supreme Court is narrow. Montana is the only state in the Union to have a partisan elected Clerk of the Supreme Court. The staff of the Clerk of the Supreme Court, including Deputy Clerk, are also appointed by the Clerk.

If not you, then someone you know has found themselves in a court proceeding with considerable consequences. The first person they likely talked to was a Clerk of Court and the amount of information and resources provided by the Clerk makes all the difference in their ability to resolve their issue.

Farris-Olsen would be certain that issues of sensitivity are handled responsibly, and that politics don’t interfere with our service to the Court and the people pf Montana.
