I proudly endorse Erin Farris-Olsen for SD 41. Erin is an experienced leader with a clear vision for Helena, and she has shown an unwavering commitment to our community and our people for more than 20 years.
Many of you know that I came to the United States in 1994 as a refugee from Liberia during the first Liberian Civil War. I understand firsthand what it means to flee violence, to start over with very little, and to rely on the promise that this country offers fairness, safety, and opportunity. Today, the situation facing immigrants and refugees across our nation is precarious at best. Moving forward, we will need qualified, compassionate leaders at the state and local level who will ensure that all people — citizens and immigrants alike — are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect under the law.
Erin Farris-Olsen is that leader. She is a licensed attorney with experience in public policy and law, and she understands how decisions made in Helena affect real families. Erin is a wife, mother of two, first-generation graduate of Carroll College, and an enrolled member of the Brotherton Indian Nation. Her lived experience informs her leadership and grounds her values and commitment to the people of Helena.
Erin believes in both the United States Constitution and the Montana State Constitution, and in respecting Montanans' rights. Most importantly, she believes in opportunity — not just for the wealthy, but for working people and families who proudly call Helena, and Montana, home.
